Rwanda and Poland established embassies in Kigali in 2021 and Warsaw in 2022. The Rwandan Embassy in Warsaw was the first Rwandan Mission opened in a former Eastern Bloc country (before the fall of communism in 1990) and now a member of the European Union after its largest expansion in 2004.
Rwanda and Poland share increasingly developing political and economic relations. Historical similarities are also significant. Today, the Rwandan diaspora in Poland mainly consists of students, but more and more professionals and businesses are coming to Poland. In Rwanda, Poles were mainly missionaries – today, more Polish entrepreneurs are heading toward Rwanda.
