The Faculty of Philology is one of the largest faculties at the University of Lodz. It is home to around 400 staff (research, teaching and administrative positions) and almost 4,000 students in nearly 40 fields of study.
The staff of the Faculty of Philology do research in various disciplines. The main ones are: linguistics, literary studies, culture and religion studies, arts studies, as well as social communication and media studies.
The Faculty of Philology is authorised to confer doctoral and post-doctoral (habilitacja) degrees in the disciplines of linguistics, literary studies and culture and religion studies. It cooperates with numerous universities and research centres in Poland and abroad, frequently hosting international conferences.
Cooperation with employers plays an important role in the Faculty's activities. Our study programmes are created with the realities of the changing labour market in mind; the implementation of a new study programme is always discussed with the business community.
Classes are held in a modern building located in the very centre of the university campus, 2 km from Łódź Fabryczna railway station. Students have at their disposal, among others, speech therapy rooms, language and translation studios, a cinema room and state-of-the-art radio and television studios.
