Projekt „Otwarta Łódź” z UŁ nagrodzony przez FRSE

Dr Monika Tosik, from the Institute of English Studies at the University of Lodz, has received an award in the European Language Label competition, organised by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System, for managed by her three-year-long "Open Lodz" project. During the gala ceremony of the winners of the FRSE competitions, she was accompanied by the Vice-Rector of the University of Lodz for Education, dr hab. Małgorzata Wrzesień, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz.

What an evening it was! "Open Lodz" is officially the winner of the European Language Label Certificate. I am extremely grateful that the Vice-Rector of the University of Lodz for Education, Prof. Małgorzata Wrzesień, was with me at the FRSE 2024 Gala at this special moment. It is priceless and incredibly inspiring to be among the innovators of education

The "Open Lodz" project was launched in 2019. It served to integrate foreign nationals socially and culturally and increase their safety in Lodz. As part of the project, the Faculty of Philology of the University of Lodz trained 80 officers of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Lodz and 42 officers of the City Guard in Lodz in intercultural communication, communication with people with poor knowledge of Polish and English at basic and intermediate levels.

Information and integration meetings for refugees from Ukraine were also organised. The project activities covered a group of several hundred foreign nationals who participated in Polish language courses and training in intercultural competences.

During the gala, the projects distinguished this year in the EDUinspiracje competition in the field of social education, ecology, synergy for education, digital skills and equal opportunities were awarded. Individual awards were also presented to EDUinspirator and Young EDUinspirator, and the winners of the EDUinspiracje Media, EITA (European Innovative Teaching Award) and ELL (European Language Label) competitions were honoured. The "Open Lodz" project received an award in the European Language Label 2024 competition.
