🚶 MOVING AROUND THE BUILDING

HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT ROOM OR LECTURE HALL? WHAT’S THE STUDENT QUARTER-HOUR?
The first few days spent at uni can be full of excitement and challenge, especially when trying to find your way around your new environment. Our tips will help you find your way around the Faculty building with ease to let you focus on what matters most – learning and making friends!

BASIC INFORMATION
The Faculty of Philology building is located at 171/173 Pomorska Street. There are 2 entrances to the building: the main entrance (from Pomorska Street) and the side entrance, most easily accessible from Narutowicza Street or Matejki Street.
The building consists of six levels.
Classes are held in rooms located on level -1, the ground floor and on the 1st and 2nd floors.
The 3rd floor houses: the Dean’s Office (including the rooms of the Education Management Office and the Student Office), administrative staff rooms, secretary offices of selected units, offices of the faculty authorities (Dean and Vice-Deans) and lecturer offices.
The 4th floor houses the lecturer offices, as well as the secretary offices of the remaining, individual faculty units.
Visitors can use the building’s four lifts: two are located to the left of the main entrance, and the other two are next to the reception.

HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT ROOM?
It is easy if you know the numbering of the different rooms 😉
The floor each room is located on is indicated by the first digit before the dot, for example:
- room 1.05 is on the first floor,
- room 2.03 is on the second floor,
- and room 3.15 is located on the third floor.
Rooms located on level -1 are an exception to this rule – the room numbers for rooms located on this floor are not preceded by an ordinal number and a dot.
Therefore, for example:
- room 01 is located on level -1 and room 0.01 is located on the ground floor;
- similarly, room 27 is located on level -1 and room 0.27 is located on the ground floor.
Feel lost? Don't worry, we have a few more clues.
- you find the room numbers and directions to rooms on the columns next to the windows on each floor of the building;
- it’s good to look at the floor plans located on each level next to the coloured panels;
- each floor of the Faculty of Philology building has a dominant colour scheme. These colours are used both on the room floors and on some of the walls.
Level -1: red 🟥
Ground floor: orange 🟧
1st floor: yellow 🟨
2nd floor: green 🟩
3rd floor: blue 🟦
4th floor: purple 🟪
HOW DO I FIND THE RIGHT LECTURE HALL?
There are 5 lecture halls in the Faculty of Philology building. They are numbered in ascending order of location, starting from level -1.
- A1 lecture hall - the largest lecture hall at the faculty, located on two levels, with two entrances: at level -1 and at the ground floor;
- A2 lecture hall - the second lecture hall located on level -1;
- A3 lecture hall - ground floor, directly to the right of the main entrance to the building;
- A4 lecture hall - 1st floor;
- A5 lecture hall (also known as the Faculty Council Hall) - 2nd floor.
STUDENT QUARTER-HOUR
The Faculty of Philology building operates under an electronic room access system. This means that each room in the building can only be opened by the authorised persons (the academic or administration staff) holding a valid access card. The rooms are open for access from the corridor for the first 15 minutes of each class. After the so-called “student quarter-hour” (kwadrans studencki) has passed, the room may no longer be accessed from the outside, which makes it difficult to get inside.
Class times*:
8:15 – 9:45
10:00 – 11:30
11:45 – 13:15
13:30 – 15:00
15:15 – 16:45
17:00 – 18:30
18:45 – 20:15
*unless indicated otherwise in the timetable
